Sunshine duration appears to be mainly linked to altitude, with durations reducing with progressive movement inland. The coast has the longest duration of sunshine, with approximately 1451 to 1621 hours annually, with the lowest recorded values in the uplands in the region of 1086 to 1250 hours averaged annually.
