Climate-proofing the Cheviots

Climate-proofing the Cheviots: Scoping Study
An investigation of the projected climate changes across the Cheviot Hills by the 2050s, and an assessment of their impact on rural land management.  Adaptation approaches to counter the impacts were also identified and a series of sites suitable for hosting further demonstration projects was identified.

Climate-proofing the Cheviots

Weather Data Analysis Summary
An assessment of long-term rainfall records from eight gauges across Northumberland, Tyne & Wear, County Durham and Tees Valley to determine long-term trends and compare the results against future model projections of the rainfall patterns by the 2050s as described in the North East Climate Change Adaptation Study. Results indicate that the model projections of future climate changes are supported by trends over recent decades in measured rainfall data.
